Plain-English version. Last updated January 2026.
By using sitetrace API you agree to these terms. We try to keep them short and readable — no walls of legal text. If anything is unclear, email [email protected] and we'll explain in plain words.
sitetrace API provides programmatic access to a set of developer utilities: SEO audits, AI content detection, email health checks, schema detection, HTTP header inspection, RDAP/WHOIS lookups, redirect tracing, bulk status checks, subdomain enumeration, and Wayback snapshots. You call our endpoints from your own code; we return JSON. Paid plans add higher quotas and additional endpoints.
You agree not to:
We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these rules, usually after a warning unless the activity is clearly malicious.
You're responsible for keeping your API key secret. Treat it like a password. If you suspect your key has leaked, rotate it from your dashboard immediately. You are responsible for all activity that occurs using your key, whether or not you authorized it.
You must provide a valid email address when signing up. We use it for billing receipts, security alerts, and rate-limit warnings. We don't sell or share it.
Paid plans are billed monthly in advance via Paddle, our merchant of record. Paddle handles payment processing, taxes, and refunds on our behalf. By subscribing you agree to Paddle's payment terms.
You can cancel any time from your dashboard. Your access continues until the end of the current billing period; we don't pro-rate or refund partial months (except as described in our Refund Policy).
If a payment fails, we'll retry a few times over the next week and email you. After 7 days of failed payment, your account downgrades to the Free tier.
We aim for high availability but make no guarantees of uptime. The Free tier is best-effort and may have occasional slowdowns during high traffic. Paid tiers get priority routing but are still subject to upstream Cloudflare outages, which are out of our control.
We may pause the service for maintenance with reasonable notice when possible. Critical security patches may be deployed without notice.
We may add, change, or deprecate endpoints over time. We'll email paid customers at least 30 days before any breaking change to a paid-tier feature. Free-tier features may change with shorter notice.
We may update these terms occasionally. Material changes will be emailed and posted at least 14 days in advance. Continuing to use the service after the effective date constitutes acceptance.
The service, brand, code, and documentation are owned by us. You retain ownership of the data you send to the API and the data you receive back — you may use API responses for any lawful purpose, including commercial products.
We may use anonymized, aggregated usage data (e.g., "1,234 requests today") to improve the service. We don't share individual customer data.
You agree not to:
Casual personal use — including citing, linking to, screenshotting, or summarizing our content — is welcome and encouraged. The line is at "build a clone of sitetrace and operate it as a competing service."
All content on sitetrace.it.com and api.sitetrace.it.com (including docs, blog posts, tool results, OpenAPI spec, and free-tier API responses) is explicitly opted out of being used as input for training, fine-tuning, or evaluating any large language model, embedding model, image model, or other machine-learning system. This restriction follows the noai and noimageai directives in the X-Robots-Tag response header and HTML robots meta tag. Operators of crawlers, scrapers, and datasets (including Common Crawl, GPTBot, ClaudeBot, CCBot, and successors) are expected to honor this signal.
API customers who use our endpoints in their own LLM pipelines (e.g. calling /api/headers to enrich an LLM's prompt) are unaffected — this clause is about training on the data we publish, not about consuming it.
The service is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind. To the maximum extent permitted by law, our total liability for any claim arising from your use of the service is limited to the amount you paid us in the 12 months preceding the claim, or USD $100, whichever is greater.
We are not liable for indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages, including lost profits or data.
You may terminate your account at any time from the dashboard. We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these terms or that have been inactive for 24+ months.
Upon termination, your API keys are revoked and your data is deleted within 30 days, except where retention is required by law (e.g., billing records).
These terms are governed by the laws of Honduras, where the operator is based. Any disputes will be resolved in the courts of San Pedro Sula.
